I have a really great opportunity to work with a non-profit organization based in Oakland, California called Asante Africa. The organization raises money and puts African children from Tanzania and Kenya through school with generous donations from the states. My sister, who began volunteering there as a content writer often emails me and gives me these quick little projects. I have done numerous little web banners, flyers, etc. for the organization. This is my latest web “flyer” for a Kenyon speaker by the name of Charles Waigi. I went with a simpler approach letting the photograph (photo by Heward Jue) speak for itself, while still keeping the Asante Africa branding in tact with the use of color of the font as well as font use. The upper left image is what it looks like on the website while the bottom right image gives you a better idea of what it looks like by itself.

Every year, University Courtyard throws a Resident Appreciation BBQ for all the residents to say “Thank you for choosing us.” The marketing office at University Courtyard always comes up with a theme, so this year we decided to go with a western theme. We also wanted to hype things up and have a ‘call to action’ campaign to get people to also like our Facebook at the same time. We went with a “Show your ‘stache’” competition, where residents can take a photo of them with any sort of mustache and post it up on Facebook. The photo with the most likes would win a grand prize. Voting went on through for about a month until the Resident Appreciation BBQ. I created a teaser poster to get people wondering what the whole campaign was about. Than the second wave consisted of the actual information about the mustache contest. Finally, I created the Resident Appreciation BBQ informational poster, telling residents about the event.

At the end of every semester at University Courtyard at Fresno State, the marketing office throws an annual bowling staff appreciation lunch. And of course every year I am asked to make a little invite to send to all the employees. So this year I really wanted to play around with the imagery of bowling and this is what I came up with. I also looped some of the fonts together to make it seem as the words seem like their interacting with one another.

This was for Georgia’s wedding back in October 2011. This was her seating chart that was displayed at her wedding. Every letter was embellished with a digital illustration of floral pieces through photoshop. Than everything was put together through Illustrator.

I’ve been doing some photography on the side. My friend/co-worker Kenyon asked me to take some portraits of him. He’s a really intelligent guy getting his masters degree at Fresno State in education and he’s been my first devoted photography client. While I’m still trying to find my style in photography I think these are a good start.

Every year at University Courtyard, I’m asked to create a Residential Life Staff recruitment poster to get students interested in working as a resident advisor or a public safety assistant at the Housing Department at Fresno State. They told me their theme was “Team Courtyard in 3D” not much more information was given other than that. After much revisions this is the end result.

Wedding invitation I did for my cousin, Yuriko’s wedding during the summer. I illustrated the flower with quill and ink, than transfered it digitally and put the color in that way.

Wedding invitation design I did for Toni and John’s wedding. They’re a very fun and whimsical couple so I tried to reiterate that into the design.
